Architecture and Reliability

Dynamic cloud scalability

iiab is hosted on the world's leading dynamically-provisioned cloud infrastructure - Amazon EC2. Amazon EC2 supports the world's heaviest e-commerce loads. Its scalable compute model allows iiab to ramp compute resources in the face of rapidly escalating traffic.

Dynamic load balancing

iiab Sites are dynamically scaled to meet variable traffic demands. The Auto-Scaling Load Balancer maintains system latency and throughput by spawning new iiab Site web server and database server virtual machines whenever demand exceeds a specific threshold.

iiab Publisher and iiab Site

Unlike competing products, iiab Publisher and iiab Sites are physically separated. The high-traffic site-serving infrastructure is physically separate from the iiab Publisher infrastructure. This enables underlying computer resources to be configured to match the unique requirements of the different applications, ensuring solid performance from both.

Asset versioning

iiab Publisher generates and deploys a site through an efficient transfer of digital assets from the iiab Publisher's MySQL instance to the website's SQLite instance. Each asset is versioned, for greater reliability and recovery.

Information security

All site assets, content, configuration and reporting is stored in multiple layers for additional information security.

  • All site assets are stored in the iiab Site database
  • All site assets are stored in the iiab Publisher database
  • A snapshot of the iiab Publisher database will be taken every day and stored for later retrieval (under development)
  • All reports are stored in an MS SQL Server database, and will be snapshotted daily (under development).
